Art Basel 2017 Guide

The City of Miami Beach will welcome art lovers from all around the world for the 16th year of Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Over the years, Art Basel, better known as Basel, has taken a life of its own and expanded from the convention center into satellite art fairs, pop-events, celebrity performances and more. The City of Miami has its own set of art fairs normally located in Midtown, but this year have moved to the Downtown Miami area.

Basel Tips:

  • Wear comfortable shoes: It’s a marathon not a sprint. Lots to see and do.
  • Park your car and leave it: Both the City of Miami Beach and City of Miami have free trolleys. These will be your best friend to get around because roads will be packed and Uber will price gauge you.
  • Go with the flow: Every year, I plan my week out and some last minute events and pop-ups throw my schedule out of whack. Just go with it.

So you want to Basel it up huh? Here are just some (there’s a lot more) satellite art fairs and events to check out. Some are free, some you may need to start calling in favors for that exclusive invite.
